In 2024, my husband was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) at the age of 27. We were hours away from our support system and driving from upstate New York to NYC every other week so he could be a part of a clinical trial at Memorial Sloan. Once he started his medication and left the danger zone of the diagnosis, we started to breathe a bit easier, and I started to run. In 2025, I raised over $9K for Fred’s team and ran the NYC Marathon. It was hard, but it was so meaningful. Before I ran the marathon, we also celebrated him being cancer-free for one year at Disney World; it meant so much. So now, in 2026, we are BOTH running and raising money for Team In Training (TNT) for the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend. He is doing the 10 K, and I am doing the Dopey Challenge. Being healthy, fundraising, and making the best of this diagnosis has been very important to us, so we are extremely excited to be a part of this!
