My first diagnosis was in 2005 when I got the news I had stage 2 lymphoma. I went through chemo and radiation for this. 10 years later I was diagnosed again with stage 4 nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL).
They put in a dual port and started inpatient chemo immediately. We worked towards getting a stem cell transplant in hopes of preventing it from coming back. I pulled all my stem cells and on the last day my husband suddenly died of a massive heart attack.
My life was shattered and I couldn’t go through with the transplant because of the grief and planning a funeral. We had two teenage boys at the time. Fast forward.
Shortly after I was in remission and turned to running. I ran 7 marathons in two years to deal with my grief. I am currently 10 years in remission and living each day to the fullest. My stem cells are still harvested at the hospital incase I need them someday.
