A blood cancer patient stands at a public event wearing a knit winter hat and a gray sweatshirt featuring a Leukemia & Lymphoma Society “Light The Night Walk” survival message, surrounded by other people in an outdoor setting.

Our son was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) at 22 months, and our world changed dramatically. We had a five-month-old daughter and a 12-year-old daughter for whom life had to remain normal. My husband and I took turns staying with our son so that he was never alone.

So much has happened since his diagnosis, but we are blessed beyond measure
