A shirtless runner wearing black shorts and a race bib strides forward on a city street during a race event. Other runners and bright murals appear in the background, creating an energetic atmosphere. The image could accompany a story or campaign supporting blood cancer awareness, highlighting strength, resilience, and community involvement.

I had just turned one year and three months old, going into my second year of life, when my parents were told I had leukemia. Obviously, this is something no parent should ever be told. An organization called Friends of Karen near us provided financial and emotional support to my entire family during the toughest time of our lives. Being fully grown up now, I love telling my story and inspiring younger and older people who are battling through something very similar. Being given the opportunity to run for a great cause like Blood Cancer United would be amazing and allow me to continue giving back to others battling blood cancer.
