This year marks my sixth year in remission. I am a survivor of multiple myeloma (MM). It's been a daily battle, but I get through each and every day one day at a time. I have the best medical care at Emory Hospital, and my family is my greatest support. When I was diagnosed in 2019, I had no knowledge of MM. I didn't know what I would even do after being told it was a blood cancer. After several surgeries for broken bones in both arms and a stem cell transplant, I felt God had given me another chance at life. In the beginning, I worked on eating better, trying to move to keep myself active and it started to get harder for me emotionally. But through prayer and faith, I am still standing. Pushing myself each and every day is a challenge, but I am determined not to give up on myself. I feel my mind is not as sharp as it used to be, so I play games on my device and read to keep myself active. I play bingo to keep my mind thinking. Doing these things that make me happy provides me with a good quality of life. Don't give up, keep pushing through, and love yourself no matter what.
