A year ago today, I woke up confused, unable to move or speak, with tubes and wires connected to me, in an ICU hospital bed. I had no clue what was going on or how I got there.
It honestly felt like a bad dream. Only later did I find out that I was lucky to be alive; I had to be resuscitated, had dialysis, and more was done to save me because I had a blood cancer called Hodgkin lymphoma (HL).
I was so shocked. I had been sick a few months before and had fainting episodes and unexpected weight loss, but had no idea what was going on until it was almost too late and I ended up in the emergency room.
I went through SO MUCH recovery and therapy and still am to this very day. I am very thankful for all the doctors, nurses, and therapists who really gave me another chance at life. A lot of people also prayed for me, and I am so grateful.
I know someone was looking out for me, or I wouldn't be here alive, healing, and rebuilding my life, one piece at a time.
Nothing but God.
Jennifer
