AML Survivor

I am a Acute Myeloid Leukemia survivor. I was diagnosed on memorial day of 2018 and thats where my story began. I failed to reach remission on induction chemotherapy but the next round of chemo I received called FLAGIDA put me in remission.

AML Survivor

One night in August 2017, I had sudden and extreme back pain. My husband took me to the hospital where they told me I was fine and sent me home. Three other hospitals later, they finally did blood work and diagnosed me with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. I was only 26 years old at the time and otherwise very healthy.

AML Survivor

When I was diagnosed in 2002 I was in such a fog, all that I can really remember is the doctor saying "You have..." I had acute myeloid leukemia and given 6 weeks to live. I just felt that could not be the end for me.

Leukemia Survivor

In 2018, a few days before Thanksgiving, Helena noticed something. She was having difficulty lifting speakers at her gigs. She became winded after only a few songs. Even the most minute tasks became daunting.

Leukemia Survivor

This is me and my bald head on vacation in California. I was diagnosed with leukemia when I was 2 1/2.

My parents made sure that my life was as normal as possible. One of my favorite comments that my parents said was Dawnya Kaye always mind your manners. They did not tell until later the story behind that saying. I was raised to be polite and say please and thank you.
