Alice is
Blood Cancer United

I was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). As soon as you learn that you have a form of cancer in your body, read a lot about it. Learn as much as you can about your cancer and how to talk to your doctor. It's up to you; it’s a mind situation. Don’t say, “Woe is me.” Say, “What should I do to take care of myself and enjoy life?” You are in charge, no one else can do it for you.

Your dietitian is a good listener and willing to take time. Mine shared with me the choices in foods that would be adequate for my body. Also, The Leukemia & Lymphomas Society’s (LLS) Information Resource Center helped me find new doctors who would give me education and guidance. I need to have a doctor who will help me help myself, so I’ll be meeting a new doctor soon. LLS helped me with provider lists for doctors in my area. It's important to have a doctor who I have confidence in.

Dealing with cancer is a mind situation where I need to be positive. Keep asking questions. My mother taught me that you should share with other people and show appreciation for other people, that is how I measure my worth in life.  I share my insight to help other people grow. That is my mantra.
