The following are the positions that make up the Illinois Associate Board, along with the responsibilities for each role.
Co-Presidents
Co-Presidents are responsible for all aspects of the Associate Board. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Filling VP roles.
- Preparation and facilitation of quarterly board meetings.
- Establishing a succession plan for leadership roles and at-large membership.
- Dissemination of communications to all members.
- Providing timely updates to LLS Illinois Chapter Executive Director and Illinois Chapter Board President as requested.
Events & Social Media Vice President
- Partners with LLS logistics manager on selection of event locations, themes, meals, etc.
- Oversees event based social media efforts.
- Partners with LLS volunteer manager to ensure all AB events are properly staffed. Responsible for ensuring AB website and promotional materials are current.
- Oversees event & social media chairs
Social Media Chair
- Assists with content and scheduling of posts for all AB events.
- Ensures posts have been approved by LLS marketing manager before activation.
- Provides status update at quarterly meetings.
Logistics & volunteer chair
- Collects proposals, menus, collateral, etc., from locations under consideration.
- Takes part in selection of venue and menu.
- Works with LLS staff representative to ensure AB events are properly staffed with volunteers.
- Provides status update at quarterly meetings.
Recruitment & Member Development Vice President
- Leads the oversight of new member identification and outreach.
- Coordinates and oversees onboarding to ensure smooth transition.
- Partners with Finance and Event Chairs to ensure Members-at-Large are active and engaged.
- Drafts external communications for recruitment. (social media team will post and track)
- Oversees and tracks mission volunteer activity for all members.
Finance & Fundraising Vice President
- Tracks member dues and fundraising targets.
- Works with LLS staff representative throughout contract procurement processes.
- Leads sponsorships efforts.
- Maintains AB budget and goal setting for all events.
- Oversees F&F support teams
Sponsorship Chair
- Assists with creating sponsorship packets, and ensures members have been trained on presenting the information and making the ask.
- Tracks progress to goal across all events.
- Provides status update at quarterly meetings.
Fundraising Chair
- Serves as a go-to for all members for fundraising ideas, best practices, etc.
- Tracks progress to goal for all events.
- Provides status updates at quarterly meetings.
Members-At-Large
Members-at-Large are individuals seeking introductory involvement. At-large members support the work of the three pillars:
- Events & Social Media
- Recruitment & Member Development
- Finance & Fundraising
Members can support more than one pillar, depending on their availability, reach, and resources.
The following are requirements for all members of the Illinois Associate Board.
- Attend a minimum of three quarterly board meetings per year.
- Attend a minimum of two fundraising events per year (one event should be Cooler by the Lake).
- Attend a minimum of two social events. (events Meet annual Give/Get financial requirements (Give @ $150.00 for leadership & $100.00 at-large & Get $500.00 for all roles).
- Participate in one mission related activity – hospital tabling events, Light the Night survivor tent, etc.

Members of the Illinois Associate Board agree to the following Give/Get financial responsibility:
Leadership members (Co-Presidents, VPs, and Chairs): Give - $150, Get - $500*
Members-At-Large: Give - $100, Get - $500*
*this can be done in a variety of ways including selling tickets to our annual benefit, securing silent auction items, getting in-kind donations for goods or services...etc.
