Myra is
Blood Cancer United

Over the course of Myra’s career in oncology nursing, she’s seen the hurdles that families face and heard from patients about the daily struggles to access the care they need to stay alive. Unfortunately, she is too familiar with patients who are forced to choose between life-saving treatment and going against a doctor’s recommended treatment plan simply because the cost is too high.

Myra is working to change that reality by raising her voice and speaking out on behalf of patients. With her relentless passion, she joined The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Office of Public Policy (OPP) as a volunteer to bring a unique perspective as a healthcare professional to advocate for policies that ensure patients have access to the care they need.

“Policy change is needed to ensure that the patients I work with can access the care they need to live long and healthy lives,” says Myra.

She’s joined the fight in the nation’s Capital and in her home state of Nevada, meeting with legislators, sharing the personal stories of her patients and recruiting new advocates to join her in this fight.
