DCC XIV, Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (Lauren Sopourn /Miami Dolphins)

My Dad, Jay, was a distance bike rider and completed many amazing rides. On June 1, 2002, Dad did America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride (AMBBR). He always said this was the most beautiful ride and his favorite. Dad later contracted leukemia, and after fighting the good fight, he went home to Heaven in July 2013. He is still missed by many. Even though my Dad was one of my best friends, we did not ride together. I had other passions then. After Dad passed, I started cycling, and it is now my passion. I contacted some of Dad's riding friends and got a list of some of his rides. Since AMBBR was his favorite, I am doing it on June 1, 2025, to honor Dad's memory, raise funds, and raise awareness. This ride will be more than a physical challenge. It will be an emotional day that will in some way be filled with joy! I cannot wait!
