Blood Cancer United

A runner stands proudly at a race event, holding a large handwritten sign that reads, “Way to go Missy! Proof we raised a bad.” A medal hangs around their neck as sunlight shines across the busy finish‑line area behind them. The joyful, triumphant moment reflects deep pride, strength, and the unwavering support shared by families and friends whose lives have been touched by blood cancer.

Blood Cancer United’s mission feels deeply personal to me because I’ve seen how life-changing the right support can be during an incredibly difficult time. Organizations like Blood Cancer United make a real difference by providing resources, guidance, and a sense of community when people need it most. Knowing there are people who truly understand what patients and families are going through brings comfort and strength during moments that can otherwise feel isolating.

Supporting this cause through the New York City Marathon is my way of honoring that journey and helping ensure other families receive the same compassion and assistance. No one should have to face blood cancer alone, and I’m proud to stand behind an organization that works every day to make that a reality.

A person is seated in a medical treatment chair with an IV line connected to the arm. The individual is wearing a tie-dye sweatshirt and has a blue protective sheet draped over the lap. A patterned blanket covers part of the legs, and a white disposable cup is placed on a small tray nearby. In the background, there is medical equipment including an infusion pump with digital displays, tubing, and a yellow biohazard container. The setting appears to be a clinical or hospital environment.
