I would like to run with Blood Cancer United because I know multiple people in my life who were affected by leukemia and lymphoma. I have become an active runner over the last few years and was excited to run for something I am connected to. I've run two marathons and several halves, but I am looking forward to fundraising along the way.
Currently, I am a news reporter and anchor in Nashville, Tennessee. My passion for broadcasting began in high school when a story I produced in a TV production class helped fundraise for a student battling leukemia. I called the story "The Cameron Ruby Story." Through the story, we helped raise several thousand dollars for his treatment and his family on that school day. Through this, I learned the true impact storytelling has on a community. Cameron unfortunately passed away, but I think about him often. He is someone I continue to honor in my career now as a journalist. I also lost my grandfather, Alan, to non-Hodgkin lymphoma over 30 years ago, and unfortunately, I never got to meet him.
