Sobreviviente de Leucemia Linfoblástica Aguda

A Christopher le diagnosticaron leucemia linfoblástica aguda (ALL, por sus siglas en inglés) el 9 de julio de 2012, cuando tenía 10 años. Acudió al médico porque se sentía cansado y le dolían los huesos y la cabeza desde hacía tres semanas. La prueba de sangre que ordenó el médico indicó la presencia de células de leucemia.

 

Christopher empezó inmediatamente un tratamiento intensivo de quimioterapia en el Hospital Infantil de California Central. No pudo ir a la escuela para su último año de primaria. Al mes de tratamiento, presentó una reacción adversa a uno de los medicamentos quimioterapéuticos y un coágulo sanguíneo en el cerebro, lo cual le produjo convulsiones. Como resultado, recibe inyecciones diarias junto con sus otros medicamentos. La enfermedad de Christopher entró en remisión un mes después de iniciar el tratamiento, y él ha permanecido sin cáncer desde entonces.

 

Le está yendo bien y seguirá con un tratamiento intravenoso mensual, y con medicamentos diarios, hasta octubre de 2015. Él está feliz de volver a practicar deportes y pudo volver a la escuela para el séptimo grado. Ya ha empezado a practicar su deporte favorito, el fútbol, con su hermano gemelo, Alex. ¡Se siente de maravilla!
