My name is Bri. Halfway through my engineering Ph.D., I was diagnosed with stage III Hodgkin lymphoma (HL).
I did not let that diagnosis halt what I enjoy doing. I am still working on my Ph.D., and I have deep aspirations to go to space. About a year before my diagnosis, I completed a two-day course in suborbital spaceflight training. As an up-and-coming engineer, I worked on projects across multiple NASA centers. Every day, I enjoy inspiring the next generation of our innovators at mu college, New York Tech. Most importantly, I've always wanted people to be the best that they can be.
I will not let cancer define who I am. Once I am done with treatment, I still have aspirations to travel to space, be the best I can be, and teach an important lesson — astronauts can be lymphoma survivors, too.
