I was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) right before my 27th birthday. I had just finished my Master’s degree and was engaged to get married the same year. I was a special education teacher and wasn’t sure what to do with the news.

My hospital social worker gave me The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as a resource. It has become one of my biggest resources throughout the 2½ years I have been fighting lymphoma.

I had to take time off work, and LLS supplied me with financial assistance to help with the stress. I was given the opportunity to go to Houston, Texas, to MD Anderson for a cell therapy trial and stem cell transplant. LLS offered peer-to-peer support which was beneficial and a travel grant which helped my husband fly from Georgia to Texas throughout the months I was there. Currently, I am in complete remission and recovering from my transplant.

Thank you LLS!!

We can all do hard things!
