I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) at the age of 22 in April 2024. I am a mom to a now two-year-old who I had to be apart from for four months to get treatment. When I first found out about The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), now Blood Cancer United, I right away went to see the ways they could help me financially because I was the only one working in my household at the time and had to quit my job to receive treatment. They sent me $1,000 within a few weeks to help jumpstart my treatment. After that, I have been posting on social media about my complex journey, including sepsis, multiple rounds of chemo, and biopsies, as well as losing my right leg and the toes on my left leg due to sepsis and infection. I’m now starting to share my journey about getting a stem cell transplant, and has been very supportive on my TikTok and social media by reposting my videos and commenting as well. It makes me feel seen, heard, and special for once after the cancer diagnosis. I am almost done with my journey, but I will continue to advocate for research trials and eventually get to a cure as I am currently on a research trial.
