Mark J. Barrenechea is a technology executive with more than four decades of experience leading global enterprise software and infrastructure companies through innovation, growth, and transformation. Barrenechea served as chief executive officer of OpenText from 2012 to 2025 and concurrently served as chief technology officer and vice chair. During his tenure, he helped expand the company's global leadership through sustained innovation, strategic acquisitions, and investments in cloud, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and information management. Previously, Barrenechea was president, chief executive officer, and a director of Silicon Graphics International (SGI), where he led the company's strategic transformation and global growth. Earlier in his career, he served as executive vice president and chief technology officer at CA, Inc. and senior vice president of applications development at Oracle Corporation, where he led a global organization of several thousand engineers. In addition to his professional leadership, Barrenechea serves on the boards of Dick's Sporting Goods and SentinelOne. His philanthropic service includes board leadership with the San Francisco Opera and Blood Cancer United. Barrenechea earned a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Saint Michael's College.
