Overview: While most people who get influenza (flu) have mild symptoms, some people – like older adults, young children, pregnant women, and people with certain chronic medical conditions – are more likely to develop serious flu complications that can result in hospitalization and sometimes even death. Tens of thousands of people died from flu-related problems during the last flu season alone, but there is a vaccine that can help.
