Blood Cancer United

From caregiver to patient!

I was first made aware that something was wrong when my non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) testing came back inconclusive during routine prenatal genetic testing. A cervical lump developed soon after, and with further testing, I was officially diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) at 28 weeks pregnant. At the time, I was 27 years old, a fairly new nurse practitioner, a newlywed, and a soon-to-be first-time mom.

I was scared, but I was determined to get past this obstacle. Six months, 12 rounds of chemo, a healthy baby boy born on Christmas day and several tests later - I am now in remission.

I finished chemo in April of 2024, and now I have a new outlook on life. My family has expanded, and I’m thankful for every day.

I want to thank The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, now Blood Cancer United, for the support they gave me and ultimately my family during this time.
