A person with short, light lavender hair and glasses poses indoors, wearing a green top and a delicate necklace. The warm, personal portrait can accompany stories or awareness efforts related to blood cancer, reflecting resilience and individuality.

When I was diagnosed, I was told I had two to five years to live. Myelofibrosis (MF) is an incurable and rare cancer. I am 17½ years post-diagnosis, and MF is taking its toll of late; however, Blood Cancer United has provided support, financial support for medical travel, and assisted in helping find resources for my medication, which comes with a hefty price tag. Blood Cancer United has increased its MPN resources and leads not into the fear of MF but into hope with answers. I’m now 65, and I took advantage of my “ups” and lived the fullest life — parasailing for my 69th birthday, hiking and chasing waterfalls, and, more importantly, sharing joy and adventure with my six grandchildren. Life may be shorter for me at this stage, but it’s fuller than I ever imagined! Hope floats!
