My journey began unexpectedly when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) at just seven weeks pregnant. It all started with what I thought was the worst cold of my life. I felt terrible! A few weeks later, I noticed my lymph nodes were swollen, but I brushed it off, thinking it was just a lingering effect of the cold.
When I found out I was pregnant, I was overjoyed! But then I noticed a painful mass growing on my chest. Concerned, I visited the doctor, and after a biopsy, I received the shocking diagnosis of HL.
I was referred to an oncologist and created a treatment plan that involved leaving my job working with children and waiting until my second trimester to start the ABVD chemo regimen. Thankfully, I was approved for cold cap treatment to help save my hair, and it actually worked!
By July, I had completed my last round of chemo, and in August, I welcomed my beautiful, healthy baby girl into the world. My journey has been challenging, but it has shown me how much strength and resilience I never knew I had.
