Christa is
Blood Cancer United

I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at three years old. I experienced two and a half years of chemotherapy, lumbar punctures, blood transfusions, hair loss, and surgery. Since then, I have not wasted a single day. I live each day to the fullest, remembering a time when my future was unsure. I want to make the most of my second chance by striving to achieve what may seem like a challenge. My goal is to become a psychologist and specialize in the behavioral and cognitive development of children. I want to continue to be a part of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). I hope to someday run campaigns to continue to raise money for blood cancer patients. In addition to achieving my degree and continuing to work with LLS, I plan to travel the world and publish my own book. LLS has given me hope in life by providing me with the opportunities to excel and grow from my time in the hospital. LLS has allowed me to lead, inform, and inspire others on what is seen as a nightmare ― but was my reality. Thanks to LLS, I can take full advantage of my second chance at life. I can take the first steps toward achieving my dreams knowing that LLS is the reason I’m able to have them.
