55 & Grateful: Here’s Why…
I thought I was stepping into menopause, but life had other plans. Last July, I was diagnosed with CML—chronic myeloid leukemia. Yes CANCER!
When my oncologist told me it’s “the best cancer to have—the one you’ll die with rather than from,” I thought, yeah right! Nobody wants this diagnosis.
It’s been tough. I battled depression. Panic attacks. The grief of losing my brother—and then this on top of it all. There were days I didn’t know how I’d make it. I still have body pain, and some days I just hurt.
But I promised my family I would fight—and I did. In March this year, I went into remission, y’all! 🙌🏽
The oral chemotherapy came with 60+ pounds of weight gain and plenty of tears, but it also brought me a new kind of strength. A deeper faith. A louder gratitude. I’ll take being fluffy—I’m still beautiful!
Today, on my 55th birthday, I’m not just alive—I’m living.
I’m grateful for the fight, the lessons, and the love that carried me through.
Here’s to healing. Here’s to hope. Here’s to blooming in every season.
