On August 24, 2017, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). It turns out, after much back-and-forth and a second cervical excision, that I actually had diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). And for good measure, kidney cancer as well. Why not two primaries, right?

I began R-CHOP chemotherapy on October 23, 2017. My last of the six rounds was February 7, 2018. During the course of treatment, I only missed one day of work. It took about 10 days after the first infusion to lose my hair. About six weeks after my last infusion, I had another PET scan and found the lymphoma had gone into full remission.

Once that conclusion was reached, I then had a laparoscopic and robotic partial nephrectomy where they removed a 5 cm. calcified mass and about a quarter of my right kidney. That was on April 16, 2018.

Since both procedures were completed, I have had no signs of either cancer returning.
