Carley is
Blood Cancer United

Hi, my name is Carley and I am an angel.  I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in 1995 and I died in 1996. I was 3 ½ years old when I died and I tried so hard to live, but AML was just so terrible and there weren’t a lot treatments back then. My parents were so sad when I went to heaven. I’m still 3 ½ years old because up here in heaven we stay the same age and none of us are sick anymore. It’s truly wonderful up here, but there are still way too many of you coming up here from earth because of AML.

I used to love to sit in my hospital bed and call all my friends. It made my days happy and helped me forget about all the awful medicines that went into me through all those tubes.

Well, about two years ago I made a little call to a couple of people on earth. They didn’t know it; we don’t need phones up here to make calls, but I got through and guess what happened.

Some very special people at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and a wonderful doctor named Brian Druker got together and decided all this going to heaven stuff because of AML has got to stop! You see, for so long not much has been done about AML. I think people were scared because it is so complicated. But, now, my friends at LLS and my friend Dr. Brian are doing it, and they’re calling it Beat AML. WooHoo! I am so excited and I will tell you, so are all my other angel friends up here in heaven.

Thank you LLS and thank you Dr. Brian!!!!

And, I may just be calling you, too. You won’t know it, but you might just click that red box and suddenly you’ll know that you are now part of Team Beat AML.
